The In-be-tween

It is finally spring in the Springs, but all that really means is no snow. The winter was pretty mild until April. Then we had more snow then we knew what to do with. Now that it's June, we can enjoy the transition from "kind of spring" into summer.

Summer in Colorado is nice with no bothersome bugs, humidity or hot heat. (now this comment is from a Midwesterner so the CO bugs, humidity and any heat - are not "bothersome"). I look forward to plenty of sunshine each day, afternoon showers that come on in a hurry, and beautifully cool evenings with friends.

As the seasons transition, so does our faith. We expect to flow cleanly from winter to spring but we never really do. We expect our faith to flow smoothly from one "issue" to the next, but it never really does. On bright sunny days we should enjoy the blessings of God's grace but never forget that God works and creates all the time. Storms are brewing in the world and in our lives and God is at work, preparing, tending, moving and praying for our preparation and fear. To me fear is not the absence of faith, fear is human. It is alright to face transitions with fear as long as we connect to God and reality as well.

I have many blessings in my life and in my future. I probably have many snow and rain storms too. But when the dark clouds rumble above me on a late Colorado afternoon, I don't need to freak out and abandon all activities. My life may really need that rain. And in my life, only God knows.
