As the weather changes from summer to fall, I appreciate the gentle transition it is taking. Fall is the season that wants to ease me into something new..... shoes instead of flip-flops, sweaters and even a new hair color and make-up. Trees are moving slowly this year as they begin to change their leaves. For this, I am thankful. Let us not forget about the beautiful summer we all had. Don't rush into fall as if it is the latest TV show this season or the newest outfit for school. Enjoy the season between seasons and be thankful that we have them.
This analogy is something worth thinking about as I am being released from a relationship and look to the possibility of a new one. I must remember this transitional period is a "gift" that allows me to examine who I am and what I really want. To rush into another relationship is not so much disrespectful of the last boyfriend as it is the act of stepping quickly over an opportunity to rest....and breathe.
Like the leaves on the Aspen trees that ponder their hue of gold, I need to take my time and wait for God's leading. One day I will stand on the corner and notice that all the trees have changed. Hopefully, I will realize I have too.
