When God reveals Himself, He very rarely lights the night sky with fireworks. The windstorm, the earthquake and the fire (1 Kings 19:11) are all "signs" that would amuse the masses. Instead, God draws us alone and close to Himself to whispers, "What are you doing here?"
He reveals His gentleness, strength and vulnerability in a baby. God shows His love by surrendering the closest part of Himself, His Son, Jesus. And He used Jesus' humanness and divinity to show Justice and save many nations.
I am being drawn away in quietness to see the beauty of my Savior. If I don't get away to hear the small, confident, penetrating voice of God, my life may slowly slip away unchanged. When I drag myself away from insignificant TV dramas and "to-do" lists, I see God trying to help me heal so that I can recapture my gifts.... re-establish my purpose.... develop the musician I was always meant to be.
Until I say "yes" to the Whisper, I can never say "yes" to who I really am.
"Apart from Me, you can do nothing." (John 15)
