A few days after Lent, Jeopardy Champ and I ordered a new laptop computer for our home. The Dell Inspiron I bought for my seminary degree blew up, literally on Ash Wednesday. So our involuntary Lenten practice was, NO computer for more than 40 days. It was fine. We realized how much unnecessary social networking, email crap occupied our time. We also realized how inconvenient it was to want to check our back account online and not have the "online." In all, I am glad we have a new, very reasonably priced laptop again.
Our post Lenten theme for the next 50 days at church is the Holy Spirit. Without a home computer, I could actually hear and enjoy His presence. I don't think I want to loose this presence and return to "life as usual" - over crowding my day with social networking silliness. I rather enjoy a quiet mind and stirred heart. I think I will keep the Comforter and lighten up even more on the computer.
