A True Love

So, Valentine's Day is just around the corner (sat, 2/14), but so is Ash Wednesday (wed, 2/17). On February 14th this year, I will be celebrating the love I share with my husband. I won't be avoiding it and thinking of Arizona State Day, or, "I-Am-Alone" Day. (Actually, I never did that anyway). But, just two years ago, I did enter into the "love" season sad and disappointed. Fortunately, Ash Wednesday that year was close - Feb 6th. In 2008, I entered into the season of Lent as my season of Love with surrender, hope and sacrifice. If I was going to connect with anyone, it was going to be Jesus. And so it continues.
Just the other day, Sr. Mary Colleen said, "It is impossible to enter into a deep love with your husband unless you are also entering into a deep loving relationship with God. They must go together." I see now that I want it all. Both relationships to be respectful, surrendered, loving and sharing.
This Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday, I will enter my season of love with surrender and waiting, hoping to hear God's voice as my life continues to transition. The transition of February 2008 was tough. But, my complete surrender to God and his plan for my life, delivered a phone call from my husband on March 1.
