Stormy Day

In my life, I have enjoyed a lot of stormy days. When I was young, rain fell and green skies formed as tornadoes came establishing a spring evening in Kansas. After.. the rain left behind a beautiful, eerie pink sky.
When I lived in Phoenix, a rainy day was like an extra day in the year. Everything seemed to shift, work was different and being late for an appointment seemed just fine. 20 minutes of rain signaled a monsoon with dust storms to follow in late summer.
In Colorado Springs, rain is not as foreign to the mountains as it is to the desert. But still, the rain changes my mood. During this week I worked, drove and played hard. Today, I am a cat on the couch with a cup of coffee and the rainy clouds outside.
When I think about Jesus traveling, walking everywhere, I wonder if he was bothered by the rain. To Jesus, was the rain renewing to the earth, a sign of cleansing in the Jewish faith or just rain? Did he postpone his teaching or use it in his healing.
The next time I head out of the house to teach or lead a rehearsal, I will think of Jesus and not complain about the weather. The earth renews itself with water and I need to keep my plans...go, even if it is raining.
