Rented Brain Space

Last evening Jeopardy Champ and I where on our way to a non-profit thanksgiving meal. It was very important and I was wearing sneakers...he was wearing a tweed jacket (oops). On the way there, I got a little crazy about the impression I would make and how one particular woman (Pigtails) might "judge" me. In an effort to communicate and connect the male and female brain, I became completely vulnerable and confessed my fears. The Champ said something I will never forget. He said, "who cares what she thinks!! You are the one who has decided to let her upset you. You have rented out brain space to her and her comments." He was right! I have given Pigtails a prominent spot in how I view myself and a percentage of my self-confidence.
During the Thanksgiving break I will be giving notice to vacate this "for rent space" and sell it back to the rightful owner, my Savior. I am sure He will re-paint it in a beautiful pumpkin soup orange and set out fresh flowers.
