Worth Fighting For

"Being fought for" is an odd and empty idea that finds a place in many women. My girlfriend and I approached the subject from many angles tonight, over coffee. I suppose it is also an idea that men secretly desire...and certainly children. I explained that I didn't think I had ever seen a man fight for me. I dismissed passed suitors and even my family, which to me, really keeps the odd and empty place open.
Healing comes when I realize that I can't blame anyone for fighting or not fighting... it is just what it is.
People are "valued because they are lovable," broken, open to the opportunity to engage and be vulnerable. Valuing someone enough to fight for them, is to love them as Christ does. In fact, He may be the only man who has fought for me or should have to. In any case, we are gifts, special images of God.... and that is worth fight for, is some way.
