Jesus Cleansing the Temple

I have been reading parts of John Eldredge's "Wild at Heart" this month and must say I love his explanation of what a man is and needs to be a man. The author must know that women will be reading so he gives us direction that will help nurture what our man needs. So, this brought me to the image that men see of Jesus. Mostly they see a calm gentle man sitting with children or talking to women. But I pray that they don't miss the Jesus that knocked down tables, whipped everything in sight and Cleansed the Temple.
I tried to find a picture for this blog entry but even the pictures I found of Jesus knocking down tables... showed a "controlled" demeanor. (top left is a cowboy and right is a mnt climber) There was nothing controlled about Jesus actions when his passion for the things of God thrust him into action! He is unsafe.... focused.... and brave. I value his gentleness toward me because that too is an element of God's image, but only when the "unsafe" nature is expressed and lived out.
This is what Eldredge is saying about the men in our lives, brothers, boyfriends, husband, fathers and friends. We can practice being the "beauty" in all men's lives even if we are not their beauty. By doing so, we support the dangerous, adventure seeking passion that is present in the heart of every man.
