Choose this Day...

Christmas is almost here. Advent has led us to the little town of Bethlehem and now we have to find a place to stay. Do we choose the "Inn"... or the neighbor's house... or the stable out back? When we choose a place to stay, we are choosing a place to be with Jesus. It isn't that we are more righteous if we sleep with the animals in the barn. But maybe more aware of who the infant King really is. We are not more holy if we lay gold at His feet. But maybe more aware of who we are in the One who receives the gifts. And it isn't that we are more saved if we draw near to Him after following the Star. But saved from ourselves and the sin that causes painful consequences.

We can do nothing without Him... so choose where you will stay this Christmas. Your choice may give you the rest you need to walk with Him during the coming year.

Peace.

It's interesting to think about if we see God in simpler places--when our lives aren't too complicated with our stuff and our noise. Would there have been a place for shephards to fit in at the Hyatt and would magi have been distracted by the acknowledgement of their importance?
