Seven Year Old

Two weeks ago I met a little seven year old girl. She was very cute and she had dark brown pig tails. She also had a very free and enjoyable spirit! In an odd way, I noticed that she had an adult approach to many things around her. She was very matter-of-fact and shook my hand when I said hello.
Soon after meeting her, I started exploring what this little girl means to me. Did God make us all to be little girls (or boys) with free spirits? The answer to my own question is, yes. And to my knowledge, God did not ask us to give it "side orders" of adult attitude, adult responsibility and lies. Once a little child is asked to "straighten up" and essentially, not act like a child, I believe that little child pauses and thinks about their choice.... "did I do something wrong?" they might ask themselves. Or maybe, the sweet little child figures out that it is easier to "do the right or perfect thing" so that everyone is happy.... except for her.
In these cases, I believe our Amazing God grieves for both the situation, the little child and the little child that has been lost inside the demanding adult.
Don't let that little girl continue the ridiculous facade. I think you might have left her at age seven.
"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 18:3)
