Have you ever taken time to understand your "true self" only to find there are many facets to that self? What about the many roles in your life; wife, daughter, minister, mentor, musician, crazy friend? Could it be that our creation in the image of God, who is mystery, Creator and wonder, has also placed those aspects in us?
As I interact with people at church, in music lessons and on farms in Kansas, I see the beauty of God's image in me. I think, act and connect differently with each of these relationships. And I believe it takes those relationships to help me find unique parts of my central self. Be sure I am not talking about multiple personalities but different aspects of one within me; a creation of God's image. Sure, I would like to label myself as a "musician, a Christian, a woman," but even in those labels there is room for interpretation, which is fine with me.
St. Paul talked about being all things to all people(1 Cor 9:22). He did this for the sake of the Gospel. He entered different relationships as weak, as Law abiding and as free so that he might show them who God is. Paul does not encourage us to loose ourselves through the influence of other, but to discover more of ourselves.
Consider who you are becoming as you interact with different kinds of people. You may want to explore a freedom of becoming all things to all people.
