Ask for what you need.

I can remember my father walking into my office at a parish in St. Joseph, MO one day and reading aloud the sign on my door. "If you want something you have never had, you must do something you have never done." I think the quote stopped him in his tracks because I heard him recite it a few days later.
As we float through the seasons of our life, there are times when the floating out of one season requires swimming into the next. Jesus asked the man at the pool in Bethesda, "Do you want to get well?" In effect, He was asking the sick man if he was ready for the next season of his life. Was the man willing to make a different, broader, more energetic effort to be healed? As it relates to me.... yes!
As it relates to you?... just consider this an encouragement to think through the bold efforts that can change your life. I am not talking about hurting anyone or powerfully dismissing someone to get what you want.
I am talking about speaking up so that your needs are met. If you have the opportunity to receive something you have never had and respectfully dismiss it as selfish, you may enjoy an even longer time next to the pool.
Put some words and ideas together and do it.
