On Wednesday, I woke up to an inch of wet snow on my car. It was cold, windy and dark. I reached for my scraper, the first time since May 5th. It was too wet and really considered the first "kind of" snow this season.
I preceded to drive to a meeting spot and then head to the Denver International Airport. Two hours early, three hours late for take off...we left for Kansas City.
I have been surprised that since moving to Colorado this time 2005, I have been back to the KC area about every 5 months. This is way more then I thought I would visit. This time, I spent 3 days in downtown KC (Westport) attending a conference to get my mind into some Emergent Worship ideas, meet friends from long ago and "give myself a break." One thing I am liking about the Emergent Movement is that it is not a movement, a program or the next big thing. Emergent is not institutional or exclusive. And it is not "happy-clappy getter-done" worship.
What it is: Narrative, earthy, progressive, easy-going, loving, open to Christ's move toward peace-making and service to the poor.
I don't really know where I fit for now but I think I am going to stay at this party for a while.
