Surprise Prunes, part 3

One evening, about 3 years ago, I was waiting for a gentleman at the only Starbucks in St. Joseph, Missouri. While I waited, I picked up a women's magazine to occupy my time. I was drawn to an article that featured regular women (not celebrities) expanding on the joy in their lives. Thus begins my blog:
I remember a very beautiful 31 year old Indian woman who lived in San Francisco saying that her joy came when she "gave up" the expectations of her culture and of other people. Here was a 31 year old Indian woman living in the U.S. and by all cultural standards, in a peculiar place; she was still single. Not only that, she had decided to forgo a childhood belief that a women should purchase a home with a husband.
Much like the quote from Joseph Campbell in an earlier post, she said,
"...once you stop fighting the life you think you're supposed to have and start living the one you want, everything seems to fall into place." - Deepali Bankar, 31 http://www.health.com/health/article/0,23414,1102835,00.html

As the new year begins, I ask - "when will you begin to live the life you want?" And how long are you willing to wait until things fall in place? Jesus asked the man lying beside the pool of Bethesda, "do you want to be healed?" Who doesn't answer "yes" to that?
